Bahrain Royal Endurance Team receives accolade from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

The Bahrain Royal Endurance Team has claimed the prestigious Arab Team Award at the 2016 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award.

This follows the team’s victory in last year’s FEI World Youth Endurance Championships, which took place in Santo Domingo, Chile.

Bahrain Endurance TeamSheikh Nasser stated: “Receiving this very high-status honour for the Bahrain Royal Endurance Team wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, who is attentively following and backing the Bahraini riders. His contribution to having Bahraini riders collecting podium places at top international races and championships is invaluable.”

“I am very much honoured and proud to receive such a highly esteemed award which holds the name of a person very close to everyone’s heart, that of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has been always keen to recognise creativity, innovation and excellence across all sectors, especially in the area of sports,” he commented.

“We are extremely proud of winning it”

“This award crosses the Arab world’s borders and is of world-class status, and we are extremely proud of winning it. Many factors have contributed to the success of the Bahrain Royal Endurance Team, notably the hard work put in by everyone in the team, the riders, and all the staff in the administration, technical and media departments. Each one of them has worked very hard to make our victory in Chile possible and place the endurance sport in the Kingdom at the level it occupies today.”
Bahrain Endurance TeamSheikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa (president of BREEF) emphasised his gratitude for the support of HM the King within endurance riding, which sees the island nation ranking among the very top countries in this sport. “This award proves that we are moving in the right direction thanks to the plans and strategies designed by Sheikh Nasser,” he acknowledged.
Although only the first three finishing horses qualified for the team results in Chile, all five horses belonging to the team managed to complete the course.
Mohamed Al Khatri (Poly de Coat Frity) achieved the gold medal, while the fourth place was claimed by Mubarak Sabt (WH Picos Shazam) and fifth by Sh Mohammed Al Khalifa (Samira de Charles). The final two team members celebrated tenth place for Dana Al Doseri (Glinkyay) and eleventh place for Mohammed Al Khatri (Romance de Perros).

The team will receive their award at a ceremony in Dubai in January 2017.
