Blida Algeria races, the federation works on promising future

Béni Tamou is a town and commune in Blida Province, Algeria about 32 km South-West of Algiers.

The endurance sport in Algeria has experienced a tremendous progress since the formation of equestrian club The Hacienda. A facility spread over 50,000 square meters ran by a professional team with a modern infrastructure on international standards.

Endurance World Algeria Blida riders side by sideAlgeria has four CEI1* and a CEI2* on the calendar this year with the objective to participate in the Word Championship for young horses in Belgium in August.
Another objective for the season is the World Championship for Young Riders and Juniors which is scheduled in September in Italy.

Most of the races were qualifiers and the first one was a CEN 40km over two loops of 20km each. There were 22 starters with first place going to Mohamed Chafii (Asmarani) followed by Abderahmane Saidi (Malik Mehared) in second and Oussama Mahdjoubi (Tourat Watani) in third.

Endurance World Algeria Blida rider in full actionFor the CEN 60km (two times 30km) only three of the nine starters made in to the finish and it was Djamel Rebii (Targi) who came first before Nouredine Tchantchane (Zagreb) and Nacera Rahou (Oufdi).

Six combinations took part in the CEN 80km (three loops: 30, 30 and 20km) and here it was Fatima Nezreg (Ouali) who occupied the top podium with Mohamed Rebii (Sarbacane) coming second and Azeddine Rebii (Sahel Wahran) third.
The main event of the day was the CEI1* 80km which ran over the same loops as the CEN 80km.
Youcef Safi (Olivia) was leading the field of six starters after the first loop but he couldn’t keep this position after the second loop.
It was Abdenour Asli (Quirat) who took control of the race before the final loop after he approached the first loop at a lower speed and increased pace in the second loop.
By that stage, we lost Ahmed Aoussat (Rahef) and Abdelmoumen Mahboub (Rofeida) as both horses were eliminated with irregular gait.
Abdenour Asli picked up the pace even more in the final loop where a reached an average of 23.8 km/h for the last 20 km to cross the finish line more than 30 minutes in front of the second runner.
Second was Anis Tsagadirst (Quamous). Although his speed in the last stretch was lower he had enough power left to occupy the silver place.
Early leader Youcef Safi claimed third place.
