Endurance World...

In Brief: Daniele Serioli (22) from Italy

I am Daniele Serioli from Italy, 22 years old, train and race horses in endurance sport.

My passion for horses started very early, so early that I can’t even remember, maybe I was three or four years old.

I believe that I was a particular child, I didn’t like to go to horse riding school because my parents had horses at home.

Endurance World Daniele Serioli victoriousI preferred to ride at home with my father instead of going to the riding school with other children.

When I was a kid my parents were already active in endurance and I did my first race when I was seven but unfortunately, I was too young to do distances longer than 10km.

I had to wait till I was 14 before I was able to start in 30km qualifier races.

From that moment, I started to train and ride many horses, first with my mother. Later we needed more people working with us as the number of horses grew.

Now we have a good team named SG, with approximately 30 horses in training, almost all from other owners.

Training horses is my job and my parents always help me and besides that my father is also a very good farrier.

In the last nine years, we reached very good results, including winning three times the Italian Championship: in 2008 my mother, in 2013 my aunt and in 2015 myself.

Looking at the data I’m currently the best Italian rider in the 160km and this despite my age and my mother is fourth in that same ranking.

Endurance World Daniele Serioli starting the next loopI finished 16 times in a 160km of which I won five times. In the 120km I finished 25 times and won twice.

Besides that, I have other results to be proud of.

We won the silver team medal at the European Championship for juniors in Belgium in 2012, and we got the bronze team medal at the European Championship (seniors) in Most (Czech Republic) in 2013.

In 2014, I finished sixth in Montcuq (France) for the 2 x 100km.

In 2015, I came tenth individual in the European Championship for seniors in Samorin (Slovakia).

Another nice result was ninth place in the 160km in Florac (France) in 2016 and seventh place in Fontainebleau (France) in 2017 also in the 160km.

My favourite distance is 160km as I believe it’s the only race distance where you can see the best endurance horses.

My objective for the future is to reach good results all over Europe and to be always one of the best in Italy.

I realise that all what I achieved so far is thanks to my parents for their incredible help every day and of course all the owners of the horses we have in training.
