Endurance World Marcela Peña. A strong team.Biography of Marcela Peña

I was born in the city of Buenos Aires but ten years ago moved to a house in the suburbs. I finished school in 2014 and I am now studying psychology, I am very interested as well in equestrian therapy. Since I was born my family and I spent great part of every summer and long weekends at my grandfather´s farm, where I learned to ride and got in touch with nature.
Notable achievements / palmares.
Second in the FEI Young Riders Combination World Endurance Ranking in 2016 with Mora Inocente, (an amazing mare that I certainly love!)

Endurance World Marcela Peña. Approaching the finish. When did you start riding?

I started riding when I was three years old at my grandfather’s farm, but it wasn´t until I was sixteen that I started riding endurance horses and in 2015 began to race.

Does riding run in the family?

It was through one of my aunts that I started to do endurance and many members of my family enjoy horses although they don´t participate in any equestrian sport.

Endurance World Marcela Peña. Posing. Why horses?

I always loved horses, since I was very young; although I cannot explain why, I think it is a passion that comes from within and I´m sure we can always learn something new either about or from them.

Why endurance?

I really enjoy endurance because it allows the athlete to spend a lot of time with the horse, it is a very exciting sport and I strongly believe an amazing bond is formed between rider and horse. In my opinion, the rider´s real challenge is to be able to make the horse give the best that it can, make it show off. Besides, I always end up moved by the spirit of these animals, the amount of kilometres they are able to run and how they always try to comply with what we ask them to.

Endurance World Marcela Peña. On a sand road.Own horses or ride for somebody else?

I always ride for Miguel and Celina Pavlovsky, owners of San Andrés del Moro Haras, a wonderful team. I´m very happy to be part of this, not only because of the successful horses but for the nice people that form this team.

Do you train horses?

I train almost every morning together with Miguel and the rest of the team. It is certainly my favourite part of the day!

What else do you enjoy?

I try to enjoy all activities I take part in, specially gathering with my friends and family. I also enjoy reading and when I´m able to I like to discover new places.
