Close finish racing in Dolina Gawora, Dobrodzien

Dolina Gawora, Malichow, Dobrodzien, Poland. Saturday 2 September 2017.

For the second time, Dolina Gawora was host of the Polish National Championship for CEIYJ1* 80km and CEI2* 120km.

Dolina Gawora was the only international competition in endurance this year in Poland, unfortunately the organizer saw less competitors than last year but still welcomed riders from Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands and of course from Poland.

Endurance World Dolina Gawora Dobrodzien. Senior winner. This year the competition was a little bit harder compared with previous years because of the rain before race day. Due to the good conditions of the tracks the influence was limited even with the drizzle during the morning of race day.

The most important category for the Polish National Championship was the CEI2* 120km for which nine riders entered. Rivalry from the beginning was fierce and after 90 km four competitors were still very close together. On the last loop Wojciech Heliasz – POL (Sinda) stepped up the speed and he finished first with about 10 minutes advantage over second placed Beata Dzikowska – POL (Zohar). Third went to Ryszard Zielinski – POL (Miryn).

Endurance World Dolina Gawora Dobrodzien. Sprint for second place. The CEIYJ2* 120km was won by Imke Lamsma – NED (Kabila AA) with a lead of more than 30 minutes on second placed Merilin Kalbre – EST (Baltimor) who had a very narrow advantage of two seconds on Brenda Prants – EST (Assman).

Barbara Rygol – POL (El Mahdi) was the best in the CEI1* 80km with Karolina Sojka – POL (El Samir) in second and Anneli Ohlen – SWE (FF Lawrence) in third place.

Endurance World Dolina Gawora Dobrodzien. Junior winner.Emotions were high in the competition for the Polish National Championship of CEIYJ1* 80km. The first two riders after 60 km were Martyna Kaminska – POL (Bella di Amore) and Natalia Palczak – POL (Dzinnis).  Unfortunately they didn’t start the last loop as both were vetted out for irregular gait.  Victory went to Ewelina Kawalec – POL (Amglez). The finish for second place was spectacular where Mikołaj Urbanski – POL (Celtis) overtook Maria Landau – POL (Fuksuss) in the last meter.

The endurance discipline lost a lot of popularity in Poland but there are clear signals that it is picking up after a long standstill. The organisers at Dolina Gawora realize they will need more riders, locally and abroad and an extra financial support for the sport to grow.
