Paulo Santos and Caio Guimarães crowned in Brasilia race

Brasília Country Club, Brasilia – DF, Brazil. Saturday 20 May 2017.
This event at the Brasília Country Club was important for Brazilian Endurance since it reunited athletes of two equestrian sports. The Brazilian champions of 120km, for regular riders, and Para endurance were defined.

In the CEIYJ1* 80km French rider Eva Totain (Sheeha Rach) was leading from the start followed in a long distance by two Brazilian riders who kept swapping places during the race. They finished side by side with Jose Caio Frisoni Vaz Guimaraes (Rakassa Endurance) taking second and Rodrigo Moreira Barreto (Waradmiral Endurance) finishing third.

The title for Brazilian Champion CEI2* 120km went to Caio Vaz Guimarães (Zane Grey Endurance). For the first two loops, he was joined by Tiago Manetta Bicalho de Lana (LCN Seffora) who, thanks to a better recovery, was leading until vetted out (irregular gait).

This was the second title in row for Caio who has been thriving on both national and international level and has been quoted to represent Brazil in the World Championship Young Riders later this year in Verona (Italy).
Endurance World Brasilia. Riders leaving for the next loop.Fernanda Abreu (Pocahontas HVP) crossed the line in second place and was scheduled to go to Castelsagrat (France) hoping to get a good result to qualify for the World Championship. Rodrigo Saliba (Wild Bill Rach) got the third position.
Paulo Roberto Santos (Salaam de Maire) is the newly crowned Brazilian Champion in the CEI2* 120km. Interesting fact is that the horse arrived in the rider’s team only 25 days before the race. His comments: “The feeling of being a Brazilian champion is wonderful. I had a bit of difficulty in the beginning of the race because the horse was very nervous, but then he calmed down. The rain also made it difficult, the last loop got very slippery. Yet I loved it.”

Endurance World Brasilia. Leading the way.Paulo was only seventh after the first loop and the top honors for two loops were for Pedro Stefani Marino (RG Como) who disappeared out of the race at the third vet check for irregular gait.
For three loops, it was Antônio Aureliano Almeida de Jesus (Shakira El Emir) who had his eyes on the second place however this ended in the fourth loop as the horse was metabolic at the final check.

In second place came Rafael Salvador (Crys Trio) and it was the first 120km for the six-year-old mare. She also impressed with very good recovery. José Antonio Machado (Vigo Rach) held the third position.

On Sunday, the Brazilian National Championship of 20 and 40km and Para endurance were held.
The winner of 40km race was Flavio Daccache. It was his first ride and he couldn’t be happier with the result. He is really excited about the sport and promises to be back on the next stage of Copa Chevaux.
Endurance World Brasilia. Riders enjoying the ride.Rafael Monção took first podium place of 20km. Rider of the Military Police of Distrito Federal team and he wasn’t the only policeman to be on the podium.
The Brazilian Para Endurance Championship is the only event in the year when disabled athletes of different states compete together. The competition is set for riders who have motor, physical and mental limitations.
