Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Sardinia Endurance Festival

Horse Country Resort, Arborea, Sardinia, Italy. Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July 2017.
The Sardinia Endurance Festival, the only Italian stage of this international circuit had races for debutants from 25 km to 90km plus international races in CEI1* 80km and CEI 2* 120km.

Endurance World Sardinia. UAE dominated. The Horse Country Resort has been built with the equestrian sport in mind and is surrounded by a pinewood forest with a private beach. The facilities include a 12,000 square meter show field and one of the biggest indoor stables in Europe.
Riccardo Giachino, director of Horse Country Resort and Chairman of the Organizing Committee concludes after the race with a positive balance and is already thinking about the future. “It’s the first edition of the Sardinia Endurance Festival and fills us with satisfaction, the route has been appreciated by riders and no horse has suffered any accident. Horses health is more important than the results. Collaboration with the international partners and the local institutions encourages us to plan the future.”

In total 101 riders were entered of five different countries (France, Italy, Namibia, Hungary, and United Arab Emirates)

Endurance World Sardinia. A lot of starters. We saw a convincing win of Leonardo Carro (CG Twice Nimrod) in the CEI1* (three loops of 36, 25 and 25) although he concluded the first loop in sixth place.
He crossed the finish line almost an hour before the Hungarian duo Patricia Fekete (Nennere Mandra Edera) and Kata Feketene Wachtler (Quartu By Veinard) who finished side by side in second and third place respectively.

The CEI2* 120km races were divided into four loops of 36, 36, 25 and 25km.

The CEI2* 120km Ladies Race was very challenging with four riders coming in together at the end of the third loop so recovery time was important.

Endurance World Sardinia. Racing next to the water. It were UAE riders who claimed first and second position.
Following a very conservative start it were Alyazia Al Romaithi (Holoutaria 37.37) and Alia Al Saboori (Shamberlain) who finished together with Isabella Bonetto (Ottello) close behind them. Alyazia and Alia were not in the top ten after the first loop.

After the first loop in the CEI2* we saw Carlo Carta (Franco) taking the lead and full control to finish more than 30 minutes in front of Graziano Branca (Legionario) with Nicola Bussu (Peonia Di Barbagia) two seconds further back to claim third spot.

On Saturday, there were several national races and one international race with the CEIYJ2* 120km.
From the six starters, it was only Namibian rider Jonel Coetzee (Quello Che Vuoi) who started careful and stayed out of trouble to win this race.
