South East Asia Endurance Cup 2016 – 18 December 2016

The Horses, Khao-Yai, Pak Chong, Nakhonratchasima, Thailand. Sunday 18 December.

Three races were scheduled in this green part of Thailand, all 80 km in length. There was a national, a junior and a senior race.

The biggest starting field was in the CEN 80km, where eleven of the twenty starters crossed the finish line.

There was never any real threat for winner Buddharaksa Jadphon (Chinjung), who built up an impressive lead and controlled the race from the start onwards.

The same was true for second-placed Kitikorn Nongbueng (Park Prime Amine), who was unable to match the leader but was nevertheless strong enough to hold on to the second spot for the entire race.

Third place came to Yunus Bin Abdullah (Tora August), who also rode a controlled and consistent race, and never had a doubt that he would complete the final podium placings.

The CEIYJ1* 80km was a different story altogether with just three starters, and for Jiranchaya Saewong (Kahlua) the race was over after the first loop with the horse diagnosed with an irregular gait.

From then on it was all about individual race management for Oraphin Phetlek (Vigo) and Phatcha Sawatkitthamrong (Neptune) who ride for the same stable and didn’t challenge each other.

In the CEI1* 80km (seven starters with five finishers), it was Wipawan Pawitayalarp (The Horses Born Boogie) who worked her way through the field to claim the top spot, with a distinct margin over Mohammed Ramly (JQ Tuan Junior).

Prutirat Serireongrith (The Horses Born Georgette) was in the lead after the first loop and managed to keep a place on the podium, dropping down to third after continued pressure from the two riders at his heels.
