Successful racing in Buzet, Croatia

Equestrian Club Cadence, Buzet, Croatia. Saturday 21 October 2017. Thirty riders (from Austria, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and United Kingdom) entered the CEI1* and CEI2* races organized by the Equestrian Club Cadence (Konjički Klub “Kadenca”).

Most of them successfully completed their Saturday rides on the challenging course set in the valley of the longest Istrian river – Mirna river and surrounding hills.

Endurance World Buzet. The winner.This was the second ride organized by the EQ “Cadence” at the same location and with somewhat altered course and the first successful organized by one of the Croatian equestrian clubs. This event gathered the equestrian elite from Croatia and the region for riders and horses to measure their stamina and skill at the international FEI rides and the Croatian national finals.  Also to join the successful event were riders from Slovenia who decided to organize their National Cup finals along with Croatia.

First competitors started arriving on Wednesday in order to prepare themselves and the horses and to familiarize with the area. Among the competitors that sent their entries were Katherine Mills from UK, Kim Hočevar from Slovenia, Karla Šebalj the Croatian national Endurance team member and Ema Lulic from EQ “Cadence” last year’s winner of the CEN 40km ride for Juniors.

Kevin Croke, president of the ground jury stated that the terrain was favorable for this kind of rides, because it was technical and demanding with various terrain configurations and although with such complexities and difficulties only 10 percent did not finish the ride.

Rider together.Buzet City Mayor, who supported the Event and presented the awards stated that he was very glad to see so many sport events during the month of October, which enlivened the City and contributed to the tourist & sports promotion of the City of Buzet.  He was also pleased with the many international participants.

“We as the organising committee and me personally are grateful for all that has been done in support of this event. Now we rest and settle the accounts. Then we start preparing for the next season.” said the President of the OC Mr. Bosko Milivojevic.

On national level there were races in the 45km senior and junior plus 83km.

On international level we saw CEI1* 83km divided in three loops of 30, 32 and 21km.

Leading from the start was Vojko Gabrijelcic – SLO (Mirha) who was able to increase his lead after every loop and eventually crossing the finish line with an average speed of 14.39km/h.
Second placed Renate Lang – AUS (Tip Top Styr Eha) had to settle for third place after the second loop, a place kept till the end.

This was in benefit of Kim Hocevar – SLO (Majd Al Khalediah) who turned the tables around although they crossed the finish line together.

In the CEIYJ2* 122km (five loops of 24, 24, 32, 21 and 21km) too there were three starters. Victory went to Nina Fakin – CRO (Kuhaylan Zaid-Sauron) although the approach was somewhat careful in the first loop being in third position but taking the lead after the second loop. Nina claimed first place with an average speed of 14.25km/h.

Second and third placed finished together, bronze going to Anna Hafele – AUS (Sethi) and the final podium spot was for Jana Kupper – AUS (Barah).
