Sultan Mizan breaks SEA Games Record

Terengganu International Endurance Park (TIEP) Lembah Bidong, Malaysia. Sunday 20 August 2017. The 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), Kuala Lumpur 2017, is a Southeast Asian multi-sport event taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 19 to 30 August 2017, with 404 events in 38 sports to be featured in the games. This is the sixth time Malaysia host the games and its first time since 2001. Previously, it also hosted the games in 1965, 1971, 1977 and 1989.

The endurance race CEI1* 80km was won by the host country, individual and team.

The Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin succeeded in winning gold in the individual category but also set a new Games Record with a time of three hours 48 minutes and 38 seconds. The average speed was 20.99km/h

Endurance World SEA Games. Thailand.The second place was for Mohammed Bin Rozali also from Malaysia and third went to Warit Khuntaraporn from Thailand.

Malaysia confirmed their dominance by winning the team classification with a second place for Thailand and third for Cambodia.

The Ruler, who trained every day, said: “The TIEP is like a ‘playground’ for me but in order to participate in the event, several points had to be taken into consideration before being selected to represent Malaysia. The desire to represent the nation is big as I am very much attracted to the sport.”
Riding together with the other Malaysian athletes throughout the race Sultan Mirzan commented: “I am thankful to Allah that everyone was safe and that the SEA Games event received a good public response. I have to thank the Malaysian team as well as team manager Che Mat Din Ismail, all the riders, the groom crew, veterinary assistant, the farrier and everyone who had worked hard for the success of this team.”
