Ukraine takes great initiative in endurance riding

Yatsky, Kiev, Ukraine. Sunday 1 October 2017. A key event for all Ukrainian Endurance riders was held on  October 1st in the central part of Ukraine, the small village Yatsky (60km from Kiev), sponsored by the Silin Horse Club owner and endurance rider Mr Czhou Zhuisi.

Lots of spectators arrived to encourage the athletes and their horses. A friendly atmosphere with live music and delicious hot shurpa for everybody made this event a real festival.

Endurance World Ukraine. One of the winners.On the first day there was a tutorial seminar with Mr. Kevin Croke, a 4* Judge and TD, a coach and breeder from Ireland, where particular attention was paid to the endurance horse conditioning, feeding and training. Mr Croke also emphasised the importance of correct and appropriate shoeing and rider’s position.
The rides of CEI2* 120 km and CEI1* 84km were organized for both senior and young riders. Three loops of 16, 24 and 36km involved soft field roads, moderate hills, forest roads and picturesque countryside.
The senior riders showed a rather intense tempo from the first loop and finished in a tight group. The first and the second places were won by Vitalii Malko – UKR (Hardy) and Yulia Tolpyga – UKR (West-Best) with an average speed of 17.42 kmh. The third finisher was Kseniia Titarenko – UKR (Arbalet), 17.41kmh.

Endurance World Ukraine. Happy.Unfortunately the only CEIYJ1*84 rider Ivan Hordiienko – UKR (Everest) was vetted out after the final vet check.
CEI2YJ*120 was represented by 15-year-old rider Diana Pavlik – UKR (Ingush), who successfully completed the ride with an average speed of 15.28kmh
Apart from the FEI ride, there was also a National ride on the same day. The Final of the EFU President Cup Series CEN32, CEN48, CEN84 with new FEI prospective winners Anna German, Yaroslav Bezverhyi and Mykola Dykyi.

At the Prize Giving, the EFU Secretary General, Anna Skabard pointed out that it was a new important step for the Ukrainian Endurance and promised to support the riders and the sport.

Endurance World Ukraine. In full action.Kseniia Horbunova, TD: “This was a marvellous ride where the organisers were doing their best to make it a success and they did it! Everybody went home happy and satisfied even those who did not complete. It is a very good start for the committee and I hope that they keep on.”
Czhou Zhuisi, sponsor and organizer: “I am an  Endurance rider myself and today I see within  new good riders and many prospective horses. It is a significant day for us because the first page of CEI2* was written in our country. And this is  only the beginning! Endurance is a science which is constantly developing therefore we must take the best of the world’s experience to promote this wonderful sport in Ukraine. I am planning to organize two FEI events next year CEI2*120 in April and CEI3*160 in October.”
Kseniia Titarenko, CEI1*84 rider: “And we did it! The first FEI2* ride in Ukraine! I acted both as an organiser and a rider which was quite difficult, but eventually I succeeded in both. I heartily thank all the officials who came to support the development of Endurance in my country!”
Vitalii Malko, CEI1*84 winner: “Many thanks to the organizers, judges and vets for everything. I appreciated the seminar with Mr Croke the day before the ride. It helped me to build up the correct riding strategy and as a result to win the ride”.
